How To Clean It?

Most liquids simply roll off of Crypton fabrics, or they can be quickly blotted off the surface with a dry towel or sponge. The spot cleaning method of stain removal can be used for most light to medium stains, such as coffee, red wine, crayon, and ketchup. Be careful to brush lightly since fibers can be broken or matted in the cleaning process.

  1. Before spot cleaning, blot up liquids on the surface with a clean, soft towel. For thicker substances, use a spoon to remove any excess.
  2. Mix 1 tsp. of an enzyme detergent such as Tide® laundry detergent or Dawn® dishwashing detergent with 16 oz. of warm water and mix well.
  3. Apply the cleaning solution using a misting spray bottle.
  4. Use a soft brush to work the solution into the affected area. Make sure to work from the outside of the stain inward so as not to spread the stain. Rinse your sponge or brush frequently.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all soap residues since soap attracts dirt.
  6. Blot excess moisture with a clean, soft towel or sponge.
  7. Repeat steps 3-7 as needed.
  8. Allow fabric to air dry.

Dye Transfer

Unfortunately, some clothing dye is not stable and will bleed onto other clothing, handbags, car seating and upholstered furniture. Dark denim is the most likely to bleed and currently, there are no reliable treatments to prevent dye transfer.

Since we cannot control what our fabrics are exposed to and/or determine what components are in the dye that caused the stain, InsideOut Performance Fabrics cannot be held responsible for stains due to dye transfer .

If you have had a dye transfer occur, we recommend using our bleach solution cleaning method. By following the steps below, the dye transfer may lessen or eliminate.

  1. Remove any loose debris and blot the stain.
  2. Prepare a bleach based cleaning solution. Bleach should be diluted with water on a 1:10 ratio (1 part water to 10 parts bleach).
  3. Apply the bleach based cleaning solution using a misting spray bottle and allow for the solution to soak into the fabric.
  4. Work the solution into the affected area by lightly cleaning the area with a sponge or soft bristle brush. Make sure to work from the outside of the stain inward so as not to spread the stain. Rinse your sponge or brush frequently.
  5. Blot and thoroughly rinse the fabric with water.
  6. Allow fabric to air dry.

*Please note that this policy and our bleach cleanability only applies to our InsideOut Performance Fabrics woven fabrics and does not include our performance vinyls.
